The Living Room

Last weekend, we did some long-awaited work in the living room. Here’s the way it was before:

It’s hard to see, but there is some weirdness with the coffee table and the TV table. They both need to be in the same place, and they are totally different styles.
The green chair in the corner is an heirloom from my father’s side of the family. For Christmas, we received an heirloom sleeper chair with ottoman from my mother’s side, which we had reupholstered. We put it in the green chair’s place. It will probably go in the den, but for now it is in the dining room. We also got a floating shelf to free up some of that floor space.

Making the first incision for cables.
The cake-like chunk of wall.
The wall – forever changed!
Our classy solution to tons of wires for the TV and Mediaputer
The mount for the TV and the mount for the panel.
The vintage tag on the ottoman.
It had storage inside it, which is awesome! Great place to keep extra controllers and stuff.
Here is the finished room!
We’re very happy with how everything turned out. We spent quite a lot of time in Forsyth Fabrics, agonizing over the chair. But we love the color and are thrilled with how it came out. Over all everything has a cleaner and more open feel. So much so that our TV feels a little small, haha. We’ll not be upgrading though, we just don’t watch it enough to justify it. And there are other things we’d rather spend our money on. I think the next step for this area of the living room will likely be a painted design – white on the green wall and organic in nature, probably of trees. What do you think?
