Last week a coworker of mine came back from visiting his family in Florida with a giant bag of fresh oranges. I’m not really a citrus person, but my first thought was that they sounded like a new ingredient to play with. So I took a bunch home, gave a few away, and the rest sit prettily in a bowl until I decide what to do with them. Preferably before they begin to rot.
Does anyone have a good suggestion for what I can do with half a dozen fresh oranges (besides juicing them)? I’m looking for something in regards to baking, naturally. Can anyone suggest a filling I could make out of oranges? I’m about to start a Christmas project for which I’m considering some fruity filling. Any suggestions are welcome, though!

Formerly of both n00bcakes and !Blog, the two magically become one on Spatialdrift; expect some lazy baking and serious nerditude. Also, I love semicolons.
So I’ve been thinking about this. mostly because I want to eat whatever you make! 🙂
This sounded good to me, especially when someone in the comments section said it has a scone-like texture: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Orange-Drop-Cookies-I/Detail.aspx
On second thought, maybe you should just make orange scones!
Lastly, this orange chiffon cake looked retro-awesome and tasty: http://www.joyofbaking.com/OrangeChiffonCake.html
I’m putting the immediate kabosh on scones or anything like them. Really, I don’t get what scones are all about. Dry overly sweet biscuit? Not really my thing. Maybe I’m eating them wrong or something…
Chiffon cake…sounds like an interesting experiment! It is now on my list!
This sounds super good to me! http://www.shutterbean.com/cranberry-apple-cake/ (uses zest and juice)
A lot of sugar cookies seem to use lemon zest in them, so I bet you could mix things up with orange.
Oh no! If dry, overly sweet biscuit is what you think of when you think of scones, go get real scones! The savory ones are better than the sweet ones, to be sure, but a well-made scone will rock your world and will not leave you reaching for a glass of water! 😀
