The triangles of gooey deliciousness. |
As far as the photos go, I felt better about these, but there is always room for improvement.
My problem from the last food shoot (not enough natural lighting) was turned on end this time, and I had copious amounts of light. So much so that my highlights got completely blown in most of the shots. And because it was so bright out, I could tell from the preview window that this was happening. Rawrgh. So far, my only thoughts about solving this problem have been to either A) Take the shots at a variety of speeds just to be sure or B) run inside every so often to check. Or maybe C) Both. Anyway, I enjoyed having a little less of a feeling of now, now, now and being able to think about color, texture, presentation, etc.
I know I’ve picked a hard thing to try to master; food is rough stuff to style and photograph – that why so much of what’s in food photography isn’t the food you think it is – toothpaste and food coloring for icing that behaves, paint and karo syrup for chocolate sauce, and on and on. But it’s fun, and I am interested to see how my approach will change over time.
Anyway, here are the last of the brownie shots. You should definitely check out the recipe and make them! I was very skeptical (I’m kind of an only-eats-marshmallow-in-s’mores gal) but they blew me away. Mind-blowing brownies, that’s right.
