A new place has opened since we passed through the area that Milano Bakery and So Kong Dong inhabit: Kung Fu Tea. Adam and I popped in a couple of weeks ago to check it out.
Kung Fu Tea is a brightly and boldly-branded smallish chain with about 19 locations in five states, most of them located in New York.
There was a decent crowd inside the brightly lit and hip interior. The staff was not overly polite or helpful, but they were also quite young.
Surprisingly, I saw no food at all on the menu. We went in because we were expecting something along the lines of Quickly, Honey Bits, or Sweet Hut.
The drink I initially attempted to order (I don’t recall it, but probably something to do with avocado) was not in stock, so I hastily ordered a passionfruit green tea. Adam got a black tea. We both opted to skip the tapioca bubbles this go around.
Unfortunately, neither of us particularly cared for our tea. Adam is not a big tea drinker, but thought his tea was acceptable but too sweet. My tea we both found to have a strange, bitter taste. Honestly, without as many slush and smoothie options as some of the other places I mentioned, and without other snacks to have while there, I don’t see Kung Fu Tea fitting any needs that I have. They don’t seem to be filling any particular niche in the area either. Why not go to Milano next door? Or Quickly, Sweet Hut, or even Honey Bits? 2 stars.

Emily, we are living parallel lives! My girlfriend and I just stopped into Kung Fu Tea for the first and last time. They couldn’t understand that I wanted a tea without sugar, kept warning me it would be too bitter. I think I don’t understand the concept, maybe it’s for sweet souped up drink fans.
I’m going to check out your visits to Honey Bits and Milano, because they were on our hit list. Our recent favorites are Paris Baguette, next to Milano, and I Love Pho across the street. Hope you are well!
