We Might Actually Make It!

Something to look at that isn’t sand, gravel or stone.

The grass we planted on the garden terrace has been sprouting – along with some mushrooms. But sitting around watching the grass (or the mushrooms) grow hasn’t been an option for us these past few weeks as we juggle wedding, work, freelance, chores and what remains of our social lives. This is going to be another photo-heavy, commentary-light post, because I still have a ton to get accomplished before sweet, sweet sleep tonight.

I will take a moment to note that we would be utterly up a creek if it were not for Adam’s dad, Steven. He had the opportunity and the kindness to come out and help the past couple weekends. Adam and Steven spent all day Friday, Saturday and a good chunk of time today working on that dang patio. They made tremendous progress and brought the patio from possibly not getting done in time at all to being practically finished! I’m very fortunate to have such a great husband and father-in-law.

Oooooooooooooh. The mostly finished end, Saturday morning.
Laying some of the larger stones. The stair stones laying in place but not done.
The leading edge of progress of Saturday morning.
Wrapping up on Sunday afternoon – look at how gorgeous that is!
Sweeping the granite sand in between the flagstones that comprise beautiful and painstaking puzzle.
The sand will get settling by rains and we’ll sweep it with more sand and/or slate stabilizer sand.
A pic back toward the carport.
It was brought to my attention that I didn’t really provide any context of where the “hey y’all” is. So there you go 🙂
Got the trim rock in place along the step terrace.
Ashley and I got the ball rolling on the fire pit.

Innit purty?!?!
Surveying their work.

  2. We have been planning to build a fir pit too, how funny! We are definitely waiting until it's cooler out to work on ours though. Are you going to have yours going at the wedding?

Audrey – Fire pits are awesome We don't know about having it going at the wedding, I guess we'll play it by ear. 🙂
