Thanksgiving Dessert Bonanza II

TDB II: More Desserts Than Your Body Has Room For

Om Nom Nom Nom

om nom nom.

I don’t think too many readers have been reading long enough to remember the first Thanksgiving Dessert Bonanza, but back in 2010, when I was but a nooblet of the interweb blagging scene, I became in charge of desserts for Thanksgiving and decided to challenge myself to 3 completely different desserts in 3 days.  It was a lot of fun, and this year I thought I’d do it again because if 1 dessert is good, 3 are better, right?  I’m glad we agree.

This year it’ll be a little trickier: for the first time in years I’ll actually be travelling for Turkey Day instead of staying at home; I’ll be visiting my Grandmother and Uncle/Aunt/Cousins in Pennsylvania.  This means that the desserts I make have to be one of two things.  Either:

  1. Able to travel via car (with my parents) or via plane (with me)
  2. Be easily made in a foreign kitchen where every other part of the meal is being made

I’m going to do my best to go with the former in all cases.  We’re going to see some dessert-travelling, which should prove interesting!

TDB II will run Monday through Wednesday, and I’m hoping to be able to have dessert reaction shots on Thanksgiving day itself if I can drum up some internet access.  Want to share in the Bonanza?  Do it!  It wouldn’t be fair for me to keep all this sugary-love to myself.  Maybe we can have a fun little Thanksgiving Dessert Bonanza Roundup afterwards.

Are you psyched?  EXCELLENT!

And now for something completely different…

While I have your attention, I thought I’d give you and update on what’s going on with the baking blog in general.

Things have been a pretty sporadic for awhile, something for which I apologize.  It’s never been my intention to completely ditch this blog, I’ve just had to tone it back due to life, work, and other projects.  My goal is to truck along with one post a week…I guess we’ll see how that goes.  So if I occasionally disappear for a week or to, don’t worry – I’ll be sure to be back with some baking foolishness later.

In the mean time, you may want to check out my other blog that’s been receiving more of my devotion these days: !Blog.  It’s been undergoing years of refinement both in content and voice, so if you’re into books, technology, games, or a variety of other nerdy things, you might find it interesting.  Basically, if you don’t find me here, then I’m probably busy at !Blog.

Ta!  And happy Thanksgiving in advance!

Formerly of both n00bcakes and !Blog, the two magically become one on Spatialdrift; expect some lazy baking and serious nerditude. Also, I love semicolons.

  1. Pumpkin Pac-Man! I remember when you did this before. Fun! It will be interesting to see what you come up with baking and travel-wise. I need to figure out what exactly I’m making this year and where. Planning? bah.

  2. Just last night, I made the very wise suggestion that we “eat copious amounts all week leading up to THE BIG DAY (which for us this year, will be Friday – more time!),” in the hopes that we’ll be able to stomach more when Thanksgiving rolls around. Not sure if I’ll be doing that, but I’ll be increasing my virtual waistline in expectation of the desserts to come!
