Gorgeous Grenada

(This entry is part of a series highlighting the photos I’ve taken in the last year as I go through my messy photography drive. Read the explanation here. This trip was an important trip with a lot of photos, so I think it warrants special treatment. So here’s the special treatment.)

Alamander (thanks to Nicole for the ID). Every evening a hummingbird visited it.

When I was in college, I was good friends with a classmate named Nicole. After graduation she went on to the School of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University in Grenada. When she invited the BF and I down for a visit this summer, I jumped at the chance. It was an amazing trip! Nicole and her boyfriend Joe were excellent hosts and tour guides. I really could talk about this trip for days, Instead, I will just share a small (at least in relation to the total number of photos taken) collection of (largely unedited) photos from the trip.

Biscuit! I adore this cat. She, Adelle and Panda moved to Grenada with Nicole.

Lemonade the tortoise.
Tang the tortoise.
The super-awesome house we stayed in. If you ever want to live in Grenada for a season, this is the place to be! The flower is bougainvillea. There were tons of it on the island in a variety of colors. We also saw a specimen with double petals. I wanted some seeds so bad – damn you, U.S customs! Just kidding, I know those regulations are important.
This “sweet” box contained one callaloo pocket. It changed my life. I love callaloo. Look for it on the international aisle.
Driving around the island in the Suzuki Samurai with Nicole and Joe. The Samarai is the most bad-ass car on the island, and people constantly offered Joe nice sums of money for it. Also, you can see here that driving is on the left side of the road.
This is actually the meat market. It was slightly terrifying.
It was really cool to see bananas, mangoes and other fruit just growing all over the place!
Mona monkeys. Apparently they are usually easy to tempt with fresh fruit but they were full this day and not interested in coming closer.
Grand Etang Lake in Grand Etang National Park. A volcanic lake. Very pretty, and my first rainforest experience.
I love informational signs.
I love informational signs about fish even more!
Some red ginger plants and a beautiful view of Grand Etang.

To be continued!
