Fun Friday Outfit

I love this bright blue Anne Klein linen skirt. It was given to me by Irene, whom I used to babysit. (Pssst: we can wear the same clothes –
that means I am now old.)

I don’t talk a lot about fashion here; I don’t really consider myself to be very fashionable and certainly not when compared to some of my friends. But I recently was able to freshen up my wardrobe (thank goodness, I was really pretty miserable) and increase the number of clothing items I am willing and/or able to wear to work. And I had a lot of fun with this outfit today, so I thought I’d post about it, even though I’m still not comfortable tagging it “fashion”. How about “style”? Or maybe just “clothing”.

Here’s the whole outfit, right down to my beloved Vibram Five Fingers
The neon top is thrifted Gap and the necklaces are up-cycled t-shirt – a gift from my brother-in-law Justin and his wife, Theresa,
from Uncommon Goods.
I get a kick out of the slightly 80s-tastic combo of the two bright-brights and the black.

The bracelet was a cheapo buy on some long since forgotten website years ago.

Well that’s it. Thanks for indulging my dorky love of this super-bright outfit. I definitely had fun wearing it!

  1. E, you are so stylish (which is better than being fashionable for sure)! I want more outfit posts on this here blog! I always thought (and still think) you mix colors in your outfits better than anyone else I know! xoxox, L

  2. L, you're wonderful – thank you for your encouragement! I really had so much fun in this outfit, but was pretty terrified about putting it out there. It really became an exercise in personal growth to make myself share.

  3. hello, ive been thinking on buying the vibram 5 shoes, but i tend to wear a lot of skirts and i saw this outfit looks good with these shoes, i cant really tell which shoes they are. can u please let me know, thank you

    • Hi Cristal! These are the Performa Janes. They aren’t produced anymore, but depending on your size, you may still be able to buy them online through eBay or something similar.

Another cute VFF style that I am enjoying right now is the Alitza (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/Five-Fingers-Alitza-Womans.htm?activity=casual). The ribbons can be a little fussy but it’s a decidedly feminine look and the Alitza is the most comfortable style I own (I also have several pairs of the Performa Janes and a pair each of KSO, Jaya, and Classics. The Classics with the heel tab are the most uncomfortable, by the way.

Styles I have my eyes on are the VI-B and the Entrada, which is just the Alitza without the ribbons. I hope all this helps!
