A Little Country Fun

A couple weekends ago we headed out to Alabama, to my brother-in-law’s house, to celebrate Father’s Day with my father-in-law and most of the immediate family. I always have a blast when I am out there, and this time was no exception. I took a few pics for posterity.

Rolling watermelons. Somebody got an extra pallet delivered, so they were going bad.

Ethan’s turn.
Steven’s turn! While everyone else waits patiently.
Kelly’s turn!
Adam’s special roll.
Picking watermelons and waiting to roll.
The carnage – or at least the parts that didn’t roll into the vegetation.
Clearly, it’s time to bring out the boom sticks and shoot those things.
Steven shoots.
After knocking off a few rounds, we go down to inspect.
There were some pretty flowers in the pea family.
And some wild sunflower-daisy things.

Unfortunately, at this point my DSLR battery died. It’s old enough that it always says it’s low, so sometimes I forget to charge it. So I have just a few shots from my Optimus.

Four-wheeling – and golf-carting. These shots are from the golf cart.
Hanging out in a pretty field, checking out rock formations.
Unfortunately, you can’t see it, but lovely light from the creek was reflecting on the underside of the boulder.
Going through the woods.

Afterward, Justin let Molly and I learn how to drive four-wheelers. I had a really great time. It’s nice to have a great brother-in-law with fun toys and a wonderful family to play with.
